I'm Matthew. And I built Walz & Co Accounting because I know what it's like to run a business.

I’ve spent much of my career working alongside business owners and operators, including nearly 20 years in restaurant and brewery management. I know what it feels like to have a hundred things demanding your attention at once.

There are customers to take care of, employees to manage, bills to pay, vendors to deal with, payroll to make, and a business that somehow still needs to grow.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, you're supposed to find the time to understand your financials.

That’s where I come in.

I started Walz & Co Accounting with a simple idea: business owners deserve financial information they can actually understand and use.

Your books shouldn't just tell you what happened last month. They should help you understand where your business stands today and give you better information to make decisions about tomorrow.

Whether you're trying to figure out why cash always seems tight, wondering whether you're actually making money, preparing for a busy season, considering buying equipment, or simply tired of falling behind on your bookkeeping, I want to help make the financial side of your business feel a little less overwhelming.

I'm not interested in making accounting more complicated than it needs to be.

A little about me

I'm a husband, a father, a veteran, and a business owner.

My time in the United States Air Force taught me a lot about discipline, accountability, responsibility, and doing things the right way even when nobody is watching. My years in business taught me something equally important: people matter just as much as the numbers.

I'm married with two children, and building a business while being a husband and father has given me an even greater appreciation for what other business owners are trying to accomplish.

Most small business owners aren't just building a company.

They're building something for their family.

They're creating opportunities. They're trying to create freedom. They're putting their name, their time, and often their savings on the line to build something they can be proud of.

I understand that.

And I don't take the responsibility of being part of that lightly.

Why Walz & Co?

I don't want Walz & Co Accounting to become another faceless bookkeeping company where you submit your documents and wait for someone you've never met to categorize your transactions.

When you work with me, you know who you're working with.

My goal is to become a trusted financial partner for the business owners I serve. That means keeping your books accurate and current, but it also means helping you understand what the numbers are telling you.

Sometimes that means answering a simple question.

Sometimes it means digging into why profitability doesn't look the way you expected.

And sometimes it means sitting down and looking at the bigger picture of where your business is headed.
